Who this covers

Photo8 is a marketplace where photographers publish galleries and customers buy photos. This policy covers both: people who buy photos, and photographers who sell them. Where something applies to only one group, we say so.

What we collect

If you buy photos

• Email address — to send your receipt and your download link.
• Phone number — only if you tick the box asking us to text your photos to you. If you do not opt in, we do not ask for or store it.
• Your order — which photos you bought, what you paid, and when.
• Name — if you provide one at checkout, so the photographer can recognise the order.

You do not need an account to buy photos.

If you sell photos

• Account details — your email, display name, and any profile information or bio you choose to add to your public gallery page.
• Your photos and the events, tags and prices you attach to them.
• Sales and payout records — what sold, what you earned, and what we have paid you.
• Location — only if you add one to your profile, so customers can find photographers near them.

Payments and identity checks

Payments are processed by Stripe or Square. Card numbers are entered on their systems, not ours. We never see or store them.

Photographers who take payouts must complete an identity check required by financial regulation. The details involved — date of birth, government identification number, bank account and routing numbers, and any identity document you upload — are passed directly to Stripe and are not written to our database or our logs. We keep only the opaque reference Stripe gives us so we know which account to pay.

Your photos

Photos uploaded by photographers are stored with Microsoft Azure. Whether a gallery is publicly listed or reachable only by its direct link is the photographer's choice, set per event.

Uploaded photos are screened automatically for unsafe content using Microsoft's content safety service. A photo flagged by that screening may be hidden pending review by our moderators. This screening is automated; a human reviews anything it flags before any permanent action is taken.

Signing in

You can create an account with an email and password, or sign in with Google or Microsoft. If you use Google or Microsoft, we receive your email address and name from them so we can identify your account. We do not receive your password.

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember the contents of your cart. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with services that operate parts of Photo8 on our behalf:

• Stripe and Square — payments and photographer payouts.
• Microsoft Azure — hosting, photo storage, and automated content screening.
• Our email and SMS providers — sending receipts, download links and, if you opted in, your photos by text.
• The photographer whose photos you bought — they can see the order and the email address attached to it, so they can support you if something goes wrong.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or abuse of the service.

How long we keep it

• Download links expire 30 days after purchase, or after five downloads, whichever comes first.
• Order records are kept for accounting and tax purposes, and remain even if the underlying photos are later deleted by the photographer.
• Photos are kept until the photographer deletes them or closes their account.

Your choices

• You can stop photo texts at any time by replying STOP, or by asking us.
• You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• You can ask us to correct it, or to delete it where we are not required to keep it.
• Photographers can edit or delete their profile, galleries and photos from their dashboard at any time.

Children

Photo8 is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 13. Photographs of children are commonly sold through this service by event photographers; those photos are uploaded and priced by the photographer, and any request to remove a photograph of a child will be actioned promptly. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will tell account holders by email.
